Import Export Code Registration

An Importer -Exporter Code (IEC) is a key business identification number which mandatory for export from India or Import to India. No export or import shall be made by any person without obtaining an IEC unless specifically exempted. For services exports however, IEC shall be not be necessary except when the service provider is taking benefits under the Foreign Trade Policy.

Consequent upon introduction of GST, IEC being issued is the same as the PAN of the firm. However, the IEC will still be separately issued by DGFT based on an application. The nature of the firm obtaining an IEC may be any of the follows- "Proprietorship, Partnership, LLP, Limited Company, Trust, HUF and Society."

Import Export Code Registration Eligibility

When IEC is Required

IEC Code is required before you commence the business of any Import or Export. No Import or Export can be initiated unless IEC is allotted.

PAN Based Registration

The IEC is a pan based unique number, and against one pan number, the DGFT allocates only one IE Code, which remains valid for all over India.

No Renewal Required

The IE Code is a permanent identification number allotted to a person desirous to do the business of Import or Export in India. It never expires.

Documents Required for IE Code

1. Pan Card of the Company /LLP or Firm
2. Cancelled Cheque of Applicant
3. Certificate of Incorporation, 
4. MOA & AOA
5. PAN Card of All Directors/ Partners
6. Pan Card of Authorised Signatory
7. Id and Address Proof of All Persons
8. Digital Signature of Class-2 of AR
